Why I Want to Study Architecture
I think my interest in architecture started with something very simple — I have always been curious about buildings and spaces around me. I often notice small things that other people may not think about, like the way sunlight comes into a room, why a staircase is placed in a particular way, or how a space can feel completely different depending on its design.
What I like about architecture is that it is not just about drawing buildings. It is a combination of creativity, technology, art, and the way people live. I love the idea that something I imagine in my mind can slowly become a drawing, a model, and eventually a real space that people can use.
I also enjoy looking at different buildings and trying to understand what makes them interesting. Sometimes I see a building and immediately like the way it looks. Other times, I start thinking about what I would change if I were the architect. I like asking myself questions such as, Why is this space designed this way? Could it work better? What would make people feel more comfortable here?
That is probably what makes architecture so exciting to me. There is never just one answer. I can have an idea, experiment with it, realise that it doesn’t work, change it, and try again. I actually enjoy that process.
I also feel that architecture has a lot to do with people. A building is not just walls, windows, floors and roofs. People live, work, learn, meet and create memories in those spaces. A well-designed school can make students feel excited to learn. A home can make someone feel safe and comfortable. Even a simple public space can bring people together.
I know that architecture is going to be challenging. There will be difficult designs, long hours, corrections and probably many ideas that don’t work the first time. But I am looking forward to that. I want to learn by doing, experimenting and making mistakes.
More than anything, I want architecture to remain something I am curious about. I want to keep observing, keep asking questions and keep learning how spaces can be made better.
For me, becoming an architect is not just about getting a degree or having a profession. It is about being able to take an idea and turn it into something people can actually experience.
That is what makes me excited about architecture — and that is why I want to become an architect.
